EasiPark was awarded the 15 year build-operate-transfer contract for the development of a 350-bay car park and new car hire facility at Pietermaritzburg Airport in Pietermaritzburg. Pietermaritzburg Airport is a busy regional airport, handling over 70,000 passengers a year and with up to 10 scheduled flights a day between Johannesburg and Pietermaritzburg.
EasiPark is acting as the principle developer in this project and is investing its own capital and resources in constructing the car park and car hire building. Construction commenced in February 2010 and the new parking opens in mid-June 2010.
The new parking facilities include;
- Long and short term parking
- VIP, Disabled and Staff parking
- Drop-off zone
- Separate taxi and bus parking
- New car hire building and separate car park for the six car hire companies
Key features of the new parking include installation of ZEAG's latest pay-on-foot Orion parking equipment, proximity access control and undercover shaded parking bays in long term.
