Converting the Zimbabwean currency to trade in US Dollars has dramatically improved the economic activity of the country. Zero inflation, changes to the political landscape and US $-currency have resulted in corporate foreign re-investment and international aide being ploughed back into Zimbabwe. Harare remains a bustling African city, and now with petrol and diesel being freely available again, cars are back on the streets and they need a place to park !!!
After lengthy negotiations, EasiPark has signed a long-term, joint venture agreement with the City of Harare to refurbish and re-develop a number of the City's public parking facilities.
EasiPark has recently completed a couple of these refurbishments, and the improvement in the parking trade has been remarkable. After the first quarter of trading, EasiPark achieved a 68% occupancy in two downtown multi-storey parking garages in Harare that were previously derelict and largely mothballed.
Over the next 12 to 18 months, EasiPark will be developing and refurbishing a total of 5 public parking garages, 4 taxi ranks and commuter depots, the main Harare bus terminus, as well as implementing a kerbside parking system to manage the 2,500 on-street parking bays throughout the City.
Other parking management projects in Harare that EasiPark have also secured – and which will start operating shortly – include Joina Centre, Rainbow Towers Hotel and Holiday Inn Harare.
